Surviving the Racism in Healthcare
It is no longer a secret. Healthcare like so many other areas of our life is displayed by racism. We have learned that such practices have contributed to our poor health and wellbeing. We considered our family history and being black as characteristics for poor health, but we do not have to accept such as our fate.
Join the Sankofa Council of Milwaukee as we learn from Dr. Cheryl R. Martin, cardiologist and adult medicine specialist about what she has learned from treating black women. While heart disease has been the leading cause of premature death for all women, she has identified factors contributing to those deaths and what we can do to change that experience. We invite you to share your experiences and learn what we must do to save our own lives.
