TRANSFORMING RACIAL DISPARITIES IN EMPLOYMENT
The SANKOFA Council of Milwaukee invites you to participate in another discussion regarding racial disparities in our communities. Our last several podcasts have been focusing on racial disparities in critical areas of life, which have an impact on African Americans, and, ultimately, on our entire nation. This coming Saturday, April 9, we are discussing racial disparities in employment. Although there are plenty of reports, studies, and data about racial disparities in Employment, how did we get here? What caused those disparities? The labor of the People of African Descent was indispensable in building the United States of America. How do we explain the lack of employment for African Americans today? What are the solutions?
The ancient principle of Sankofa, which means, ‘it’s necessary to seek out that which is at risk of being lost. The Sankofa Bird is the image that symbolizes that principle. The bird is moving forward, with an egg in its mouth, and looking backward. We must know our past to heal and move forward. The intention of our podcasts is to acknowledge problems and create solutions for the future. Life is a conversation, and any problem in life can be resolved within the context of a conversation. We need speaking and listening to have the power to create solutions. So, join us this Saturday evening from 6-8 pm. Our guest is Karen Nelson, EMBA, Director-Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion, Rogers Behavioral Health.
The Sankofa Council of Milwaukee radio broadcast is an affiliate of the Black Reality Think Tank Radio Network.
