ELDERHOOD RECLAIMED
After four hundred years of slavery, including acculturation, marginalization, and terror, people of African descent are ignorant of who we are, and how we governed ourselves before slavery and the plantation system. The governance structure of African people, before 1619, was based upon an organized community. African people were governed by the wisdom of the Elders, like indigenous people throughout the world.
Now, our Elders are warehoused in nursing homes, where their wisdom is ignored, and where they simply wait to die. Currently, our government is run by capitalistic interest and the police, formerly the slave patrol. The Sankofa Council of Milwaukee is looking back to reclaim our legacy of leadership and self-governance.
Join us for a discussion on Elderhood and Leadership. Our special guest is Baba Ted Marsh of Oakland, California. Baba Marsh is a Community Elder and Executive Coach. Baba Marsh Is a master coach to leaders at all levels faced with the challenge of manifesting change.
