The historical significance of Black Radio in America goes much deeper than just the music, sports, and comedy it produced. It was a major tool in the support of political, economic, and educational liberation for African people living in America. This program is a two-part series. Next week we will focus on the history and significance of Black radio D. J.’s.
This discussion will be led by three individuals who have had significant historical roles in Black radio broadcasting. Joining the conversation will be Frank P. Barrows, current radio host, Seattle, Washington; Rev. Michael Rogers, host Gospel Gold radio; Dr. Lafayette Maxwell, Theologian/black radio researcher: and Dr. Bruce Bridges, historian/former radio host.
